Cliffs of Moher (The)
Category:

Although published in G Major in O’Neill’s (1850), “The Cliffs of Moher” is typically played in A Dorian, and O’Neill’s version differs considerably from modern renditions. The actual Cliffs of Moher rise along the Atlantic coast northwest of Lahinch, in County Clare, spanning eight kilometers from Hag’s Head to O’Brien’s Tower and reaching heights of 200 meters. Their name comes from a ruined promontory fort called Mothar, which was demolished during the Napoleonic wars to make way for a signal tower.
