Irish Guitar Tab
Chicago (The)
Category:

Chicago derives its name from the Native American word chicagou—meaning “the onion place”—for a hollow near the southern tip of Lake Michigan where wild garlic grew abundantly. Since the tune first appears in O’Neill’s Dance Music of Ireland (1907), and not in his Music of Ireland (1903), it is reasonable to assume that a member of Chicago’s Irish Music Club, O’Neill’s chief source for his repertoire, originated the title.
