Legend holds that this reel was composed to honor the 1932 World Eucharistic Congress in Dublin, or at least gained its name around that time. According to Kilnamona concertina player Gerdie Commane, it was written by Joe Mills of Athlone. However, Jim Coogan points out that Joe Mills, the accordion player, was actually from Ballinasloe, County Galway (though he had a brother, Alfie, in Athlone).
