Floating Crowbar (The)
Category:

Ciaran Carson (Last Night’s Fun, 1996) mentions hearing this reel attributed to fiddler Brendan McGlinchey. In fact, it was composed—under the title “Rathcroghan Reel”—by John Powell, a mid-19th-century fiddler from County Roscommon. Closely related to “Cameronian Reel (1),” it sometimes goes by the nickname “crowbar.” Taylor (1992) speculates this playful title was coined by someone who did not know its original name.
